2020 BOMA Boston
TOBY & Industry Awards

Call for Entries Available Now
WHAT ARE THE TOBY & INDUSTRY AWARDS?
Each year, the TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) & Industry Awards recognize industry excellence in property management, building operations, and service. There are 17 categories for TOBY Awards, and 10 categories for the Industry Awards. Since the TOBYs are nationally recognized, the Local winners move on to the Regional competition, and hopefully the International competition.

BOMA Boston's local TOBY & Industry awards are one of the largest in the country in terms of participation and attendance amongst other BOMA chapters, with all members contributing to some aspect of the awards program in one way or the other.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR BUILDING

  1. Review Call for Entries & Determine Eligibility & Category.
Read the current cycle's Call For Entries requirements to learn more about your building's eligibility for each category. Once you have decided that you are eligible and would like to enter the upcoming TOBY Awards competition, please email BOMA Boston to let us know you are submitting. If you need help determining your category and eligibility, please contact Kayla Burmeister or call 617-399-7863.

  2. Register your building and begin building content for your building submission, based on the information found in the Call For Entries booklet.
You may begin entering your data into the online portal, which can be found at http://toby.boma.org in May 2020. You can save as you go, and work on your submission multiple times.
You will need to pay $50 to set up your account/submission on the portal. This fee is for the use of the portal and is paid online to BOMA International directly.

  3. Submit your online entry.
When you are 100% satisfied with your entry and you are ready to submit, click on the "submit" button in the portal.
Please note: once you hit the "submit" button, your entry is final and you will not be able to go back and make updates.

Note: Once local competition concludes at the TOBY & Industry Awards Dinner, your application will be released by BOMA International for your review and updating should you move onto the Regional TOBY Competition.

  4. Fees.
Please let BOMA Boston know that you have submitted your entry and you will be charged a $150 local entry fee by BOMA Boston to enter your building into the competition. There is a $50 online fee to submit online, which goes directly to BOMA International. Total costs to enter: $200.

  5. Judging Begins...
After you have submitted your building information online and paid the entry fee for the competition, BOMA Boston judges will begin reviewing your entry online. BOMA Boston judging groups are also required to tour your buildings. In order to prepare for your building tour, please take a look at the Building Inspection Form that TOBY Judges will be using to evaluate your property.

  6. Winners Revealed!
All TOBY Award winners are kept a secret until the night of the Awards Dinner.

If you need assistance at any time: please contact Kayla Burmeister at kburmeister@gbreb.com or 617-399-7863.

BOMA Boston is here to help you fully understand the process at all levels, and encourage your entry to be the best it can be.
